The Office of Public Insurance Counsel (OPIC) is committed to making its web site accessible to all users. The OPIC web site at large complies with Conformance Level A (Priority 1) of the World Wide Web Consortium accessibility rating.
The OPIC web site includes the following features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities:
- Images on the site contain "alt tags", which contain descriptions of the images to aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader. Text transcripts accompany video or audio clips of speeches, remarks, and the like.
- The site's style sheets are designed to allow users to resize the text of the site in browsers that support this feature (generally available under the View menu).
- Documents on the OPIC site are published using Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). All pages with PDF documents contain a link from which a free Acrobat Reader for visually impaired users may be downloaded.
- Major redesigns are tested with accessibility and HTML validators, and other web tools. The results of such reviews are incorporated into improvements for the website.
OPIC welcomes comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities.
